Personal Info

 

I am the youngest child out of 4 in my family and was born and raised in Arkansas where all my "roots" are, but spent 6 years of my childhood in Mississippi (hence my very Southern accent!).  Both are statistically poor states, but, in my opinion (here is the irony) both are the friendliest and most easy going.  You would think that poverty would lead people to be very rude, selfish and greedy, but it's quite the opposite!  People (I'm greatly generalizing here) are content with what they have and are not ruled by trying to get the latest greatest car, trip, clothes, gadget, etc..  The song  Boondocks by "Little Big Town" sums up perfectly how I feel about my upbringing (although, I don't claim to be a big country music fan)!

 

Those are the values I grew up seeing as actions within my own family (which as an adult I now understand we were "financially challenged") and that has tinted the  lenses through which I see life :~)  I hope to instill those same values within my two daughters. To be content with whatever state they are in, to value giving over receiving, and to understand success isn't defined by a dollar sign.  That was a challenge living in the Atlanta area where we were surrounded by wealth and the constant pursuit of it.  It can corrupt the best of us!  Not wealth, per se, but the pursuit of it.

My priorities are as follows and in order: God, family and friends, real estate, traveling (preferably cruising the Caribbean), and tennis.  Sometimes they get a little rearranged and I have to re-center myself and correct my priority sequence :~)  We all get a little "rearranged" from time to time, but acknowleging it is the first step to correcting it.
